Rogers speakers are back in Canada with the new LS5/9
Since 1947, Rogers of England has been synonymous with quality audio equipment. Through creativity and innovative ideas, founder Jim Rogers produced a succession of consistently improved and refined systems. Rogers UK are relaunching some familiar ‘famous’ products as well as some new ones. Once again, Rogers will set the standards for a new generation of music lovers.
AUDIONATION - March 2020:
"We have received a number of questions from customers across Canada so we will add and answer them by popularity."
Yes they are made in the UK. The speaker cabinets are hand built by a team of master cabinet makers and then individually matched, assembled and tested in small batches. I have included the first pair coming off the bench to Canada (in Olive wood veneer). The veneer is mirror matched and finished to perfection though because it is real wood veneer, each cabinet will be slightly different in appearance.
Using modern materials, the performance is as close as humanly possible to the originals and remains within the original BBC specifications. Many of the parts used in the original are no longer available so some components needed to be reverse engineered and custom manufactured. The modern Rogers LS5/9 is 1db more efficient, the woofer has been improved and uses the latest 34mm Audax tweeter (among other improvements) so in many ways this version is better than the original while maintaining the trademark sound signature.
We have included a video with Head of Design at Rogers, Andy Whittle, to give a little background about the company's philosophy and future.
The grill and felt material has been sourced from a European manufacturer and is the same as the original so the look, feel and dispersion is maintained. Wherever possible the original materials have been used to produce an authentic, modern Rogers product.
We'll update the blog as we go!
