About the Ophidian Mojo 2 Bookshelf Speakers
Ophidian Mojo 2: the bass comes from the port, and the port is most of the cabinet
The Mojo 2 is a two-way standmount around 300 mm tall. In a box this size Aeroflex gives the port more length and area than the outside suggests, so the same air moves slowly and the 115 mm coated-paper driver spends its excursion on music instead of on fighting the enclosure. The rated low-frequency limit is around 45 Hz.
What is inside
The tweeter is the 27 mm Sonolex-coated fabric dome fitted to the Mambo 2, so the two share a voice. The 115 mm mid/bass has a coated-paper cone and a powerful motor for speed and texture in the midrange, and the two drivers are matched for a coherent stage. The cabinet is real wood veneer in oak or walnut with magnetic grilles.
Where it lives
A desk, a stand or a shelf. It is built to be listened to close up as well as across a room; the Aeroflex loading keeps the bass controlled at desk distance instead of booming. Ophidian recommends 30 to 120 W and it rewards an amplifier with some headroom.
